Schwere Panzerabteilung 501 fought on the battlefields of Tunesia, Russia and the Reich.
The first volume of the book series uses images taken by photograpfhers of the Propaganda companies and private photographs by members of the Abteilung, arranged by timeline, place and sequence, to show "Der Tiger" in the field, under maintenance, and after action:
- Formation in May 1942 - send to North Africa at the end of November 1942
- Reestablishment in September/October 1943 - despatched to the Eastern Front in December 1943
- Revitalisation and re-equipment with Tiger II - moved to Poland in August 44 and the Reich
128 pages with more than 150 unique photographs from official or private collections and 1/35 plans of a unit-made crane.
